Students who lived on the upper floor of the dormitory and had window access to the front porch roof frequently sat on the outside ledge to enjoy fresh air and sunshine.
Corinne lived on the third floor of Purington Hall, with a roommate who on two occasions accidentally locked her in!

Corinne and her classmates in the Domestic Science program often prepared food for school outings to practice what they were learning in class.
These students are enjoying a picnic, perhaps on the shores of the Sandy River.
Students could easily walk from campus to the Sandy River or other local scenic spots to enjoy a meal together.
Some outings included a cookout. These students, with frying pans, are preparing for a campfire meal.

Because influenza was a major concern during the winter, Normal students were encouraged to be active outdoors to stay healthy.
This trio prepares to venture out in the snow. Snowshoeing was a very popular winter pastime in the 1920s.
Normal students frequently spent time just walking together outdoors.
These students are gathered at a fence, perhaps at the Nordica homestead or another farm within walking distance of the school.
Tree climbing was also popular with more adventurous Normal students.
